SELF-STUDY PROCESS

Our seven improvement committees have begun the self-study and improvement process. All seven committees met Wednesday September 24 to begin the important work that will result in needed improvement goals for the American School of Durango. The following outlines the steps that each committee will take in the planning and implementation of the improvement plan.

Phase I
Begin the study
1. Begin by reviewing your standard and its indicators. Clarify any confusion.
2. Review the sample practices and artifacts, identify correlations
3. List practices that provide evidence of indicator compliance
4. Compile list of artifacts that provide evidence of compliance
5. If possible, assemble artifacts that provide evidence of compliance

Phase II
Generate Goals for Improvement
1. Generate strategies for improvement that ensures the school meets each indicator
2. Submit Goals and rational to Mr. Valdez and Mr. Denena for review
3. After approval by Mr. Valdez begin to identify sub goals and strategies

Phase III
Implementation and Monitoring Goals
1. Define progress benchmarks and dates
2. Who will support the goal?
3. What kinds of tools will be used to monitor progress?
4. How will results be documented?
